About Me

Hi, I'm Manas — the author behind 5G 6G Technology Forum (5G6GLab). This site is where I break down 5G, 6G, Open RAN, and AI-in-telecom concepts into clear, practical write-ups: the kind of explanations I wish I had while learning this material myself.

I've spent 25+ years as a software engineer in wireless telecom, building cellular modem protocol stacks from UMTS and LTE through to 5G, alongside M2M and IoT. That has meant end-to-end modem development for smartphones, smartwatches and automotive platforms — protocol stack implementation, system specification and direct customer interfacing — at Nokia, Intel, ST-Ericsson and other world leading companies. I hold 2 unique granted patents across the USA, Europe and China, with inventor designation at the European Patent Office.

Day to day that work is RTOS and Linux, multi-threaded design, and a great deal of protocol debugging — which is where the material here comes from. 5G6GLab is now 30 long-form articles on 5G NR, the 5G core, Open RAN and 6G research, with more than 640 diagrams drawn specifically for them, and written against the 3GPP and O-RAN Alliance specifications rather than summarised from other blogs.
